Loyalty programs in Armenia
Updated 31 August 2026
Armenia is a small market where people shop close to home and the same faces come back — which is the best possible condition for a loyalty program, and the worst possible condition for every shop running its own separate card.
What is already in the wallet
Bank cards with their own bonus schemes, a supermarket card, a pharmacy card, a card from a café that closed. Most households in Yerevan hold several loyalty cards and actively use one or two.
The rest are not unused because the offers were bad. They are unused because carrying six cards is unreasonable, and because a card that only works in one shop is only remembered in one shop.
Why per-shop programs stall in a small market
A shop with a few thousand customers cannot justify building an app, and cannot get people to install one if it does. So it prints plastic, and plastic stays at home.
A network changes the arithmetic. The card is issued once for everybody, so the cost of reaching a customer is shared, and a business joining inherits an installed base instead of building one.
Three languages, one program
Customers in Armenia read Armenian, Russian and English, often switching between them without thinking about it. A program presented in only one of them loses the people who read another.
One Bonus runs in all three throughout — the app, the business console and everything a customer is sent — so a business writes its program once and every customer reads it in the language they use.
Yerevan and the regions
A business with branches in Yerevan and outside it usually finds the two behave differently: different baskets, different frequencies, different busy hours. A program set once for the whole company hides that.
On One Bonus a branch can follow the organisation’s rules or run its own, and every number is reported per branch, so the difference is visible instead of averaged away.
Common questions
Are loyalty programs common in Armenia?
Bonus and discount cards are widespread — banks, supermarkets, pharmacies and cafés all issue them. What is rare is a shared card that works across businesses, which is why most of them end up unused in a drawer.
Does One Bonus work outside Yerevan?
Yes. The network is country-wide, and a business with branches in several cities can set rules for the whole company or per branch, with results reported separately for each.
Which languages does One Bonus support?
Armenian, Russian and English, across the customer app, the business console and every message a customer receives.
