Loyalty CRM

Updated 31 August 2026

A loyalty program is also a customer database. Every purchase gets attached to a person, and after a few months a business has something it has never had before: a list of who its customers are, what they buy, how often, and which of them have stopped.

What a cash register cannot tell you

A till answers how much was sold. It cannot answer how many different people bought it, how many were new, how many came back, or whether last month’s promotion brought anybody in who had not been before.

Those are the questions that decide what to do next, and most small businesses run for years without an answer to any of them.

What the customer list is worth

Knowing your top hundred customers by spend changes how you treat them. Knowing which of them have gone quiet tells you who to reach. Knowing what a first-time customer typically does next tells you whether your welcome offer works.

None of this requires a separate CRM purchase. It is a by-product of running the loyalty program, provided the program records against people rather than against cards.

Branches, staff and shifts

With every transaction attributed, a business with more than one location can compare them honestly — not by turnover alone, which favours the busy street, but by how many customers return.

The same applies to staff. Points and rewards are recorded against whoever issued them, which is both an accountability control and a way to see who is genuinely good with regulars.

Reaching people directly

Once a business knows who its customers are, it can reach them without renting an audience. An offer sent to the customers who have not visited in a month costs nothing per message and goes to people who have already bought once.

On One Bonus that channel is the app itself, so there is no printing, no SMS bill, and no platform between the business and the person who shops there.

Common questions

Do I need a CRM as well as a loyalty program?

For most small and mid-sized businesses, no. The loyalty program is already recording every purchase against a person, which is the substance of a CRM. A separate system becomes worth it when sales are managed as long negotiations rather than transactions.

What customer data does a loyalty program collect?

On One Bonus: the member identity, the purchases made with the business, the points, stamps and rewards issued, and the visit history that follows from those. A business sees its own customers and its own transactions — not a customer’s activity at other businesses.

Can I see which branch or which staff member performs best?

Yes. Every transaction is attributed to a branch and to the staff member who processed it, so branches can be compared on returning customers rather than turnover alone, and rewards issued can be traced to whoever issued them.
